The Mercedes-Benz Electric G-Class is a revelation. It’s the tough, ladder-frame SUV drivers are familiar with but brought straight into the future. It’s a traditionally rugged machine that is more advanced, more stylish, and more luxurious than ever before, proving that you can indeed enjoy the past, present, and future at the same time. That’s only the beginning, though.
From the innovations found throughout the drivetrain to the luxuries enjoyed by those in the cabin, this G-Wagon Electric release guide covers the incredible details you need to know before you place your pre-order at Mercedes-Benz of Atlanta South.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is an icon of power. The current gas-powered model is a road-going fortress that no driver could possibly see as anything except for a thrilling performance machine. And yet, the Mercedes-Benz Electric G-Class makes double the torque, leaps up to speed faster, and handles with previously unseen levels of advanced handling.
That’s right: while the Mercedes-Benz G 550 makes 413 pound-feet of torque and 443 horsepower, the all-electric G 580 makes 859 pound-feet of torque and 579 horsepower. And whereas the G 550 takes 5.3 seconds to go from zero to 60 mph, the G 580 takes 4.6 seconds. Keep in mind that these SUVs share the same solid-steel ladder frame. This frame provides the G-Class with its beloved, commanding driving demeanor and also makes it so capable of handling ultra-rough conditions.
However, the Mercedes-Benz G 580 Electric SUV boasts a modified and strengthened version of that frame for even more confidence and capability. It also sticks to tradition and has standard 4WD. However, this is not quite an ordinary 4WD system: The four motors can each operate independently and drive the wheels individually, letting you get unstuck from mud, sand, or rocks with ease.
And things only get more impressive from there. The 116 kWh battery is specially sealed, letting the Mercedes-Benz Electric G-Class drive through up to 33.5 inches of water without issue.1 An all-new OFF-ROAD COCKPIT system will assist with this task and continue to guide you through the worst terrain conditions with detailed off-road driving information and 360-degree camera views. Plus, a new rear-door storage box has been specially designed for equipment like tools and tire chains, the brakes use dual circuits for absolute confidence, and 9.8 inches of ground clearance come standard; so do the following additional off-road performance features:
While we don’t yet know the full Mercedes-Benz Electric G-Class range specs, we do know that its 116 kWh battery size and 32-minute 10-80% DC charging time2 can only equal a long-distance drive.
As the latest member of the Mercedes-Benz G Wagon family, the G 580 was bestowed with luxury the moment it was born. This SUV lineage is famous for combining the ultimate power and off-road performance with the highest-end interior luxuries; the five-seat G 580 makes those other family members proud and takes things even further with several innovations.
The overall interior design is very similar to the familiar gas-powered Mercedes-Benz G Class models but with several twists. Unique Silver Pearl and Black Nappa leather lines the seats and interior, contrasted beautifully with energizing blue accent stitching and 64-color LED ambient lighting. The seats in front have rapid-action heating, three-level ventilation, and a massage function built with in-depth massage modes like “hot stone.”
There’s a new ENERGIZING Comfort feature that coordinates the climate control temperature, ambient lighting colors, seat temperature, and massage for 10-minute revitalization programs; it’s like a spa that’s there whenever you need it. In this Mercedes-Benz all-electric vehicle, that level of luxury is the baseline. You can find a plethora of incredible features in this Mercedes-Benz G Series SUV, including the following:
Many more features are included on top of this. Above all, though, the Mercedes-Benz Electric G-Class is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, bringing new levels of interior build quality and design ingenuity to the EV SUV world.
The Mercedes-Benz Electric G-Class release date has not yet been confirmed, but we do know that it will join the lineup of Mercedes-Benz All-Electric Vehicles by the end of 2024. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class With EQ Technology will not cost much more than the gasoline-powered G 550. However, it will offer more than double the torque and bring you all-new innovations. In short, it’s the most exciting SUV on the horizon, and you can put your name down today. Our team will provide you with updates and help you pre-order your Mercedes-Benz Electric G-Class.
The official range of the Mercedes-Benz Electric G-Class has not yet been announced, but we do know that it has a 116-kWh battery and can be charged from 10 to 80% in 32 minutes with DC fast charging.2 The G Wagon Electric has a whopping 859 pound-feet of torque, and with competitive range estimates predicted, this new SUV will be a thrilling EV to drive.
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G 580 With EQ Technology is designed to offer the same legendary off-road capabilities as its gas-powered G-Class counterpart and then deliver even more on top. As two of many examples, the G 580 EV can drive each wheel individually to get you out of the most challenging off-road terrain situations and offers the ability to traverse 33.5-inch deep water.1
